WENATCHEE — The man accused of employing women to provide sexual services at Wenatchee massage parlors remained jailed Thursday in lieu of half a million dollars bond.
Chelan County Superior Court Judge Robert Jourdan set bail for Linhui Yan, the 61-year-old former proprietor of two Wenatchee massage clinics, who left the country for China while authorities served search warrants on his businesses March 1, 2023. The Columbia River Drug Task Force said their investigation showed Yan and his spouse hired women to work at the businesses who then offered sex to clients.

He’s charged with organized crime, money laundering and prostitution. Yan was finally arrested this week after his return to Tacoma from China. Speaking through a Mandarin interpreter in court, he told the judge he was out of the country while the crimes were allegedly committed, and didn’t learn he was accused until last fall.

“I was in Guangzhou to renew my son's passport last November," Yan said in the hearing room. "That's when I was told I’m wanted here in this court to come back for some legal request. So I came back.”
Chelan County deputy prosecutor Lee O'Brien requested the $500,000 bail amount, citing Yan's history of travel to China and what he said appeared to be "substantial assets" held by Yan's businesses. Police seized an estimated $150,000 in multiple bank accounts held by the massage parlors.
Pierce County sheriff's deputies arrested Yan on Thursday and turned him over to Chelan County sheriff's detectives. He is believed to have returned to the United States within the last two weeks.
Yan’s wife, 45-year-old Yan Yang, allegedly partnered with him in the prostitution scheme. She remains at large and sought by authorities; police believe she has yet to return from China.
Yan lists a Tacoma address, but operated storefronts in two Wenatchee massage locations and others in Kennewick and Tacoma. He held a Washington massage therapist license until it was suspended last summer in light of his criminal charges, and was arrested in 2019 in Louisiana on suspicion of managing a similar prostitution scheme.
