advice needed

got a new case study who suffers from a really bad back, he is a mobile green grocer and i think this maybe the reason he is on pain killers and wants to be my study to get help for his back, can anyone give me some advice on what oils to use to help him as much as possible i don't have anymore details yet.

With the best will in the world, colltom, although aromatherapy will do him a lot of good (sorry I don't know what oils to use) I should have thought that the best advice you could give him would be to tell him the correct way to lift heavy weights (as I presume that's what he does when unloading and loading his van) and possibly to suggest that he sees a good osteopath or chiropractor. But of course that wouldn't stop him being a case study and probably a very useful one for you. What oils do you think you should use? If you first put down your thoughts, then the aromatherapists on here can tell you if you're right or wrong. But it has been said before that it would really be better for you to think things out for yourself first. No one will criticise you if you get it wrong as long as you try.

First think about what properties the oils would need to help a bad back - perhaps anti-inflammatory, rubefacient, analgesic, anti-neuralgic, anti-spasmodic etc. then look at what oils have these properties and choose a couple to use. If this person is going to be a case study you could try a few different blends to see which one is the most effective.

Have you got a chart with the different oils on and what properties they have and what sort of 'ailments' they can be used for etc?? You should look up on this and work out a blend form that for the person, but you won't be able to make up a blend really until you have had a proper consultation with him.

You need to know more about him, allergies etc for a start off and what his mental well being is like - i.e is he stressed out with work or chilled out about it - etc etc, all this will help you chose the oils for him as a person not just for his 'aches'.
