Aromasport

Has anyone ever heard of this? I have looked into this a bit and there are a few people who offer around the country, but no one in my area.

Its a combination of aromatherapy and sports massage. I am qualified in sports massage and aromatherapy so could I combine the two? Without having to do another qualification, haven't seen any btw.

I am a sports therapist so was thinking of using it as an extra working with teams, athletes.
Im getting leaflets printed out so am just wondering if I should add it. Aromatherapy is not very popular with me. I have only done 2 massages since I qualified 2 months ago.

Any advice is appreciated.

Hi Vickie,
Aromasport, now thats a word I havent heard for over a decade! Aromatherapy and Sports Massage go together wonderfully! You wont need another qualification, to practice it, but obviously your contraindications will have to be for both sports massage and aromatherapy, so you may need different consultation forms to combine the two, also just make sure your insurance covers you for both too.

Good luck with it, im a huge believer in the power of aromatherapy, and have seen some amazing results, both in and out of sport.

Thanks for the advice, ReikiPixie- is your friend insured for it. I have just emailed by Insurers- balens and they have just told me they can only insure me for whats on the certificate, so can't combine massage and aromatherapy.

Have also just found out that my insurers IPTI would have insured me for this. Only just moved to Balens as they would cover me abroad for treatments if I was to go abroad to work- which I would like to.

My friend doesn't have a combined aroma/sports qualification. I be really surprised if her insurance company would expect that. I use the same company and they are usually quite flexable (Holistic Insurance Services). Personally if it was me I would tell Balens where to go because if you are qualified in both therapies, shouldn't you be able to make a professional judgement? Sounds to me that Balens are afraid of essential oils being used on a sports injury and you being sued if it went wrong. But then what's the point of aromatherapy and all that study of oils?

It Doesn't make any sense to me either. My Insurance was up in March so only just switched to Balens from IPTI, so will have to wait until next year to change.

Couldn't I just do an 'aromatherapy' massage but have deeper movements as if I was doing a sports massage as well as stretching. Couldn't that come under aromatherapy, which I am insured for?
