Boyfriend of 4 years chit chatting w/ another female!! Help!?

My boyfriend and I of 4 1/2 yrs and we have a 15 mo old. I came home from work one day to check my e mail. He had his e mail up w/ a chat he forgot to close out. I have no clue who this girl is but he did mention a few things that really hurt. She asked how we were doing and he said he's confused and we just live together!! But he still loves his daughter. I confronted him about it and I feel like Im not getting the whole story from him. She gave him her # and the computer died b4 he gave her his #. What would u think about this? I thought everything was fine! Is he trying to make himself feel better or is he on the verge of cheating, He said he can't remember how they met but she also mentioned that they tried to talk once and it didn't work out cuz he had a girlfriend - me! He keeps his phone so close to him...he always says Im so nosey....we have been together for a long time and I just don't wanna get hurt
