The Woodlake Women’s Club met on Thursday, March 13, at the Maples Grill. Presenters Portia Miller and Lindsey Gately, pictured at left, from Prasada, a local Vass massage therapy business, shared some of the unique types of services available, including lymphatic drainage, Reiki, Ashiatsu, hot stone, cupping and cranio-sacral massage. In addition, yoga classes are occasionally offered, and soon community classes will also be available. The benefits of regular massage are both physical and emotional. Physically a muscle is like a sponge where events keep being absorbed and creating toxins. These toxins affect muscle tissue. A massage squeezes the muscle to eliminate the toxins, and then water flushes out the toxins. Emotionally, massage reduces stress and allows the body to rest and heal itself. They suggested that in celebration of Women’s Health Month that you should take care of yourself, and get a massage. At the regular business meeting, members were encouraged to join the board of the Women’s Club. Lunch was a choice of corned beef dinner or grilled vegetable lasagna with a dessert of grasshopper mint pie.
