Compresses

I wonder if anyone can give me some advice please...

I've been asked by someone who has arthritis in wrists if I can help with the pain. I've explained that if the pain is severe or if swelling is present that massage would not be suitable, but a compress using lavender would be best. I gave them the details of what to do and they've asked if I can do this for them and how much I would charge. I've never done this as a treatment and have no idea what would be a suitable charge for this. Does anyone offer this service and if so how much would you charge?

Hi Snitchley, Can you not do a pro rata rate so if you did a 15 mins treatment rather then an hour chargejust under a quater of the rate?

Also have you considered mixing an ointment for her instead and charging a one off payment?

Thanks Ambanecat29, I did wonder if that would be best just to pro rata my normal rate. I did tell her procedure but I think she would rather it be done for her. I think it's just that I feel a little awkward charging to do a compress, as it's not something difficult to do but will take a little time so I will have to charge something but I don't want it to look as though I'm ripping them off.

I bought this ready made kit from Ellisons at a discounted rate:

Although they are pre-blended, there are three different blends in the kit and three different sizes.

Also, i recommend charging for your time plus a £10 flat fee extra for the compresses and after the treatment, your client can actually take them home and reuse them at least twice over (left to dry between applications)

I've had a look at the website link, is it the hand and foot compress that you've used before or the Priadara? Products and prices look good. I'll certainly consider using these. Thanks for your feedback.

I think you mean a compress as in a flannel soaked in aroma oils and placed on poorly area, those compresses manulike has shown you is for Thai manicure or pedicure massage, and wouldn't be able to be used in this situation.

As said by others, I would charge pro rata, I'm sure your client will love it, after all, they are still being pampered
