I have a client who called to make an appointment today for an aromatherapy massage and she is on a number of medications for her health. I advised her I would need a Dr's referral before I can treat her. Do I contact her Dr directly or should I give her a letter to take to her Dr?

From experience it may be better for the client to have an appointment with her GP to tell him/her that she intends to have an aromatherapy treatment - unless he/she believes that it is inadvisable.

I have written to certain doctors in the past and never received a reply, others are quite happy to give their consent and always let me knowrecent treatment history. Some clients present with absolute contraindications (acute infection usually!) so I send them away.

I have GP friends who admit that they rarely reply to letters received from complementary therapists - they get short shrift from me about it!!!
