into AFL? This issue seems to be a grey area in footy at the moment. so i would like to think that we could clear this one up once & for all. the salary cap was introduced by the AFL way back in 1987. when West Coast & Bris Bears were added to the comp.
It was introduced by the AFL to level the playing field. to stop the larger clubs from having an advantage when signing up players for their clubs. or in the case as it was with North Melb. who in their desperate hour when footy players started to be traded regularly. decided to buy their first ever flag. as they had never had the resources or the players. to bring the premiership cup to Arden St. since their inception.
Now this is where the fun part starts. was it introduced by the AFL by law? or did all 12 clubs sign up to agree to this equalisation program. back all those years ago?
