Essential Oils contra-indicated in clients with electronic or metal implants

Hi to everybody!

I'm new to the discussion forums so I hope I do this correctly!

I am currently studying complementary therapies and am stuck with part of an assignment. I need to find out if any oils are contra-indicated to clients with electronic or metal implant. If so what oils are they and why? I've managed to find contra-indications for many other conditions and illnesses but have been unlucky with these two so far.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Hello Angela

First, a warm welcome to HP.

Not a problem I have thought about before. I presume the electronic devise has to be something such as a pacemaker and the metal could be something such as plates holding bones together/in place. I suppose you get around the question by thinking why the client may have such devises implanted, e.g. a pacemaker is put in because the client has circulation/heart problems, so is this condition contra-indicated? Have I explained myself clearly ? What I am trying to say is that the electronic or metal implant isn't the condition, it is something which has been done to help a condition. And it is the condition that will or will not be contra-indicated.
Hope this is of some help. I will get back to you if I come up with anything in my books

I had to think about it for a while. Sometimes we have to step back and look at the whole picture which is something that's very difficult to do in theory - much easier when with our clients.
