Essential oils in beauty products

I was wondering if anyone on here makes their own beauty products using essential oils as I would like to start doing so myself. I have heardmixed views on using aqueous cream - some people think it's great while others think it should not be used as it cannot be absorbed into the body. Would this prevent the essential oils being absorbed too? What are the alternatives?

Which beauty products, specifically, are you thinking of making? As far as I am aware, aqueous cream does produce a barrier on the skin and would therefore prevent any essential oils passing through into the skin and blood stream.

There are so many types of base oils that you could use in place of a basic moisturiser and they dont have to be as heavy or "oily" (yes, I know thats a paradox!!) as you might think. Essentially Oils and Neals Yard do a great range of bases - a whole selection of lotions and creams. You could use an aloe gel as an eye treatment - soothing and cooling but I probably would use it alone without any oils.

I make my own cleanser and moisturiser for my own use. I just bought superdrugs own basic fragrance free for sensitive skin.This time Iadded sweet almond oil (I have normal to dry skin) orange, neroli and sandalwood. It smells and feels lovely. I change every now and then. My last jar contained geranium and Frankincense.

Could I add essential oils to Bio oil? Is there a good site for recipes for a total beginner?
