Facebook, chat, invisibility?

When I log onto Facebook, how do I make myself "invisible" so that no one can see that I'm logged on.

I hate it when 50 people try to initiate a chat with me when I log on.

What I do is, if you don't want to talk to ANYBODY. You can just go to Chat, Options, Go Offline.
However, if you want to appear offline to specific people, or only want to talk to specific people, what I do is, I make a separate friends list, which you can do on the Friends List option, and just Drag and Drop the people you want to be online to, and just click the little green switch next to the Other Friends List so that you appear offline to them. :]

The only real option is to go to facebook chat<options<go offline.

Unfortunately this means you wont be able to chat with individual users but this appears to be the only option at the current stage without using applications not developed by facebook.

There is, however, an application which allows you to chat and appear offline. I am not sure how up to date it is but it should work.

1. click the chat bar
2. click options
3. click go offline
4. if you open the chat bar again you'll automatically be online again.

follow these steps and i can assure you no one will know your online
1. click chat
2. click options
3. click go offline
after you click go offline, DO NOT click the chat box again or you will be online again. hope it helps

Click on the Chat bar. Click options. And up the top select 'Go Offline'
Now no one can see your on chat
