Facebook chat on ipod touch/iphone not working?

For about a week now I've been trying to use Facebook chat on my ipod touch.
Each time I go "online" it says no one is online - but if I sign in on my laptop I've got like 20 friends online.
I've never had this problem before :/ I have the newest version of the facebook app.
Anyone know whats wrong? Anyone having the same problem?

I've tried redownloading the app :/ didn't change anything
maybe i need the new iOS4.2 software upgrade?
