hi everybody!! im not an aromatherapist, but i am interested in aromatherapy and im new to this forum obviously from my post-count. i need some help from knowledgeable people(not myself..aha) and came across this great forum. my problem:
i recently was troubled with the most uncomfortable dry-scalp ive ever had. its winter where i am so i assume its a combo of winter-itch, dry skin, and dehydration(winter doesnt make me thirsty). i decided to do soem research and came across an e-book that basically informed me that the shampoo and soaps and other bath products i use could be stripping my scalp of its natural oils(which makes sense because i got the itch right after i washed my hair with a shampoo i hadnt used before...). so i decided to read on and it was about essential oils and how they can be used to treat the scalp for any type of disorder or temporary discomfort, etc. so i may have gotten a little carried away....
i went out to Whole Foods and bought some lavender oil and rosemary oil, as well as a new "natural"-claimed lavender hair strenghtening shampoo(the brand was JASON), AS WELL as some lavender incense(but thats bcause i liked the smell, and it was for balance...sigh...). my mother already had some eucalyptus oil, so i decided to follow(and modify...stupidly) a mixture this author recommended. i think i may have overdone the mixture i put like 15 drops lavender, 8 drops rosemary, and 4 drops eucalyptus...but being the sparatic/improvising human being i am, i mixed them with WATER...WATER!... (obviously at that time i didnt really know about carrier oils) so i didnt have any carrier oil mixed in with these 3 essentials...and a few days after using them and this new shampoo that i bought...also lavender and other stuff inside of it, i broke out with what looked like small irritations on my hairline(sideburns, back nape, and forehead area) which eventually turned into crazy imflamation on my WHOLE forehead not just hairline, and the side of my face. which eventually turned into a butterfly looking rash(but just red, no bumps) over my cheeks and nose which felt realy hot. and it also was on my upperback and behind my ears. ITCHING LIKE CRAZY!!!!
so. from what ive used that was new was: the shampoo with a bunch of diff(porbably synthetic) oils and ingredients, and the 3 oils mixed in like an idiot, with water instead of a carrier oil+lavender incense. APOLOGY FOR THE LENGTH!!!! but. i need help cuz i want to use these oils to make my hair healthy and my scalp healthy and be able to have strong hair that doesnt get brittle or dry.
can anybody help me? was it an allergic reaction to one of these new purchases? or just incorrect oil mixing? or anything i havent thought of?
