Hi there can anyone out there that is well experienced in aromatherapy help me out.
I friend of mine that does various courses has asked me for some advice or if i know someone that could provide that for her. I will paste it in below and hope that someone can help her on this as you are all true stars ....... thanks in advance folks and hope you can help
Is anyone experienced in aromatherapy to give advice only I find
myself in a worrying position at the moment. My client is on
medication for high blood pressure, has insulin controlled diabetes,
nerve damage to feet as a result of the diabetes.
Aromatherapy had been recommended to her,she approached me and I said I would need her doctors approval in writing to carry out the treatment. This she got and infact her doctor said it would be very good for her. We chose
the oils lavender and ylang ylang in sweet almond base oil, not just
for their properties but also because the scent was appealing to
her.
Initially she felt wonderful and on the plus side she slept
better, felt she had better posture and was informed that her blood
sugar level was stabilised for the first time in a long time.
However through the week her high blood pressure dropped dramatically
and she has had regular fainting. Her bp medication has been
adjusted for this and I treated her again, one week later, just today
infact.
I was only informed on arrival of what had happened since
last weeks treatment and I felt reluctant to do it because of
possible repercussions, and I would feel so bad if I harmed her in
any way. Noting that the 2 oils used before both have properties of
reducing BP, I suggested omitting one of them, so we kept the
lavender and used orange with it which was refreshing and pleasing to
the client.
In my head im thinking lavender = calming, orange =
uplifting, and just thought the 2 together would create some sort of
balance regardless of the medication she was taking. But I am home
now and feel so worried about the situation and whether she is ok, I
know she is out tonight so I will phone her tomorrow but I cant help
thinking that I was out of my depth and should not have treated.
If you know anyone that is experienced in this field please can they give me some advice and perhaps suggest a suitable blend for a person with these
medical problems.
many thanks Heather
