How can you introduce a fish to a new tank?

Im getting a 75 gallon tank to separate my monster fish with my colorful fish. Im also going to separate my crayfish so it will not eat my new fish. My colorful fish lives in a 10 gallon fish tank and the spotted ger is getting big so I need to separate him. Im also getting a small arowana so he won't be lonely.

The drip method untill around 80 Plus percent is your water or float the bag and every 5 minutes introduce more aquarium water, after about half hour of doing this net out the fish, the more of the water in the bucket or bag the better as a large change in ph could cause serious problems and only having 25% or 50% of the water being tank water would only meet the ph half way.

floating the bag tied up is also a poor idea as the ph is obviously not ajusted neither is the oxgen levels or hardness.

get the new fish in a cover and keep it in the aquarium water for 30 minutes so that the fishes get adapted to that water temperature. Then release the fishes.

The way most fish dealers do it is the drip method. You taker the new fish or one you are tranferring and put it and its watyer in a bucket. you then slowly siphon (or you can use a small cup) to add a few ounces of the new water at a time until the water is 50/50. Then you add it to youer tank. if you don't trust the water it came in, use a net. the temperatures and ph's should ber meassured first.. If the fish is coming from much warmer water, it may get ich, asnd you should add some Quick cure or Coppersafe with it.

Robert is most definitely right. Letting your fish adjust to the chemical differences in your water is more important than just temperature. It is more stressful for your fish to be suddenly dumped in water that is (potentially) different in pH, hardness, etc than it is to slowly adapt it.
