How do you record your qualifications

Hi

I have just qualified in ITEC Aromatherapy - what do you put after your name on publicity material/business cards etc???

You have to be a paid member of an organisation. I am not sure about ITEC, but I trained through VTCT and that is an awarding body and therefore don't have members. I am a member with the Federation of Holistic Therapists and also have my insurance through them. I get the words MICHT after my name (which is M(member) International Council of Holistic Therapists). You can pay for additional councils if you want. If you do a search on the internet for organisations and then compare prices, am sure you will find one that suits you. I found the FHT very reasonable at only £41 per year for membership.

Do you? I know You have to be fully insured to practice but you don't have to belong to an organisation.
Surely If you have VTCT quals your certificate says International Iinstitute Health and Holistic Therapies and you can putIIHHT after your name or ITEC or whatever just as you would for academic qualifications like B.A.
HaveI got that wrong? I can't see why you would have to belong to an organisation like FHT or anyother

I've just read this forum and I can be of some help here. I've been qualified for 10yrs. The letters you may use after your name for promotional material or other are the letters connected to your training ie. ITEC, VTCT.

If you're a member of a governing body then you may use their letters ie. MIFPA (the M stands for Member of (the International Federation of Professional Aromatherapists)). The school you trained with should've made thisclear prior toqualification so you don't have this quandry.

The governing body helps with exhange of information, CPD's, updates, legal issues, public credibility,insurance, support and a practitioner listing for the public. I have found minevery useful for all the above reasons and at approx. £60 per year - a bargain.

Oh one more thing,

To become a member of an organisation simple choose the one you feel suits you best and apply. It may take some looking into to find the right one. Google can be useful here in finding them, as they all have websites.
