HOW SOON TO REPLACE ESSENTIAL OILS.

Hi there everyone, just wondered how long I should wait before replacing essential oils. Should they have an expiry date on them and will they be different for different oils? I appreciate that you will have to replace the ones you are using most frequently but just wondered about the ones which you use occasionally.

From what I gather, most essential oils should keep their therapeutic properties for 3 to 5 years, provided they are stored in dark bottles and kept in a cool, dark place.

The exception is citrus oils which have a shorter shelf life of about 9 months.

The times I have stated are very general however. So, if you have a particular oil in mind then you would probably be best to do a quick internet search to see what is said about it.

It's obviously important to get your oils from a reputable supplier so that you can be sure that the oils you are getting are as fresh as possible.
