How to delete Microsoft chat?

When I click on to my Yahoo mail, I often get a message saying that I have been disconnected from Microsoft chat, because I've accessed the chat from another computer, and then the page drops out.
I don't ever remember signing up for chat, but in any event -how can I delete or cancel 'chat'?

Sorry Guys, I can't find either of these options!
I have now deleted 'massenger' from the tool bar bottom right of the screen - that may do it!
