Info needed on KTV places

Agree with Xiao Ping, better to go to the higher class KTV. Had one experience at a small, out of the way KTV where the room was 500 RMB with 12 beers and 300 tips for each girl. Girls were 6-8's, and nice, But then the girls ordered some lady drinks, and they told us to pay and leave and they would meet us later. When the bill came it was 1100, we complained and all of sudden there are 4 big rough guys in the room, so we paid and left. lesson learned.

Legit high class KTV will NOT let you have sex in the KTV room. If there is an offer of sex and it is suggested to you that you do it in the room, RUN, don't walk, OUT OF THERE! It is more than likely a scam. Every KTV scam I have heard about involved having sex with the girl in the KTV room. KTV is NOT massage or sauna and is quite often a legitimate business. Furthermore, there are many KTVs where the girls do not go with the customer or it's up to the girl whether she wants to go with you. If a girl offers herself in the room, there's usually an ulterior motive, one that could be potentially harmful to you.

Let me recommend that you stick to KTVs in 4-5 star hotels. Although these places will be a bit more expensive, they will not scam you. They have too much to lose to risk their reputations. When you enter the KTV, make your intentions clear to the mamasan that you want to take the girl back with you. Many places have two groups of girls, one group that's available for take out, and another group that is not. The piece moody wrote in the other forum is as good as any on what to expect and how to behave at KTV. Read it twice.

Thanks for your replies, they have given me a pretty good overview of the KTV scene. Just one more quick question - How much "fun" can you have with the girls in the room (without takeaway). And si there any recomondations for KTV places in Beijing or Shanghai.

Once you are escorted into a room, a mamasan will introduce her self to you and ask you if you want a FS girl or just a bit of fun girl. Then she will introduce some girls to sit down next to you. After about five minutes later, she will come back in and ask the girls to leave, if you like the girl you can ask the mamasan to leave the girl here or you can change the girls untill you are happy

I know this maybe a stupid question but being new to the asian scene need a lttle advice. My experience so far has been the gogo bars and nightspots around Hong kong. Myself and 2 friends will be travelling to Bejijing and shanghai in May and for interest sake try one of the KTV places.

Now getting to the silly question - what is the go with these places?

I have heard they are expensive, but can someone give me a step by step guide one what actually hapens and what you actually do...

Is there any action in the rooms or do you have to take the girls to you hotel?

We are just looking for a fun night out maybe not FS but a bit of touchy feely etc.
