Is an Amish person be open for chit-chat with a non-Amish person ?

edit: Amish people love Greyhound. i used to travel by bus a lot and you can see them tons up north.

It depends on the individual. Some would and some wouldn't, just like anybody else. The Amish are NOT a brainwashed clan that all act in the same manner.

To counter what some of the other posters stated, the Amish do travel on trains, but they avoid the use of aircraft if possible.

Maybe not on a train but if you happened to meet one I thing they would be polite and not just snub you.

Depends on the individual. I used to have amish neighbors. Some were chatty some not so much.

Amish people DO ride trains, especially for long distances.

I used to live among (not with) the Amish in Pennsylvania. The ones I met were shy and reserved, but sometimes they are very happy to have us talk to them.

They are a distant and proud people. I don't agree with their religious beliefs, but I am amazed that they stand so steadfastly with their beliefs. I admire them, but I would not want to be one.

There's nothing saying Amish people can't talk to non-Amish people. They do it all the time. But yeah, finding one on the train wouldn't be very likely.
