Is there a way to Turn off chat in Yahoo Mail?

When ever I go to Yahoo mail it logs me off from Yahoo Messenger. I use to not have this problem and Yahoo Customer support says that the only way is to log into my mail using a different internet like Mozilla. I say b.s. cause this is the first time I've had this problem in many years of use
