Is TJ Still Worth It?

Okay I have been going regularly to TJ for the last five years, within the last two years I go at least twice a month at night on my own, I have even taken my new SS Camaro into TJ and never had a problem, I have been pulled over for obvious reasons and the cops let me go with no bribe after I show my paperwork and proof of Mexican Insurance. I have gone on dates and to my regular spot which is the HK bar and all I do is exercise common sense when traversing the area on foot and being aware of my surroundings. I find that I have a freedom in TJ that I dont have in OC, I can party and enjoy the beautiful sites and antros in Zona rio or get a GFE at the HK. It helps that I speak the language and know the culture but I feel more at risk in certain areas of LA than in TJ. No country is perfect, nor are its citizens, but there are good and bad people in every country of the world

I mean you really have to work hard to make them keep an eye on you but why push it?

Another point - you can't go to an establishment in LA and pick out the girl you want to fuck (for money). The cops are also insane about street walkers here. Yeah, the hottest and most experienced hoes are in LA but they are hard to find (and the good ones really expensive). So to recap, in TJ, I drive to the border, pay $5 cab ride and then I'm in the middle of four-five awesome bars with an excess of 1,000 hoes (for $60-$80). I'm also anonymous - no one cares who I am or what I look like. Great deal all around.

And that is exactly why I go to TJ - for the instability. I probably can speak for all the mongers here that we love STRANGE - that is not the same ole thing every day. I have been mongering all over the world and I would still pick TJ as one of the places to go.

Good discussion. I think everyone has made some valid points. The Mexican economy has been recovering from the recession fairly well. I apologize for being harsh about Mexico. The fine people of Mexico don't deserve that.

For me TJ is worth it. Definitely. Some of the points KF raised in his posts I've raised here and privately. You can find comparable prices with hos right here(for me is in LA). So is not like I need to go to TJ for reasonable prices.

Also I think that you can't compare TJ to LA. LA is simply the poon capital of the world. Whether we are talking pros or civillians. There is a lot of talent here from all races to keep you busy and to keep you from heading to TJ. Maybe that's why some LA mongers don't make the trip or just don't like Latinas. Whatever the reason is they don't need to go. Sometimes I feel that way.

But what draws me to La Zona de tolerancia is the latinas. You are probably saying didn't you just say that you can find girls of every race in LA? Yes you can but is hard to find a boatload of latinas that hot and beautiful in one place. Streetwise in LA is hard to find any kind of talent that can compare to TJ talent. The only places I can think of that can come close to TJ in talent is in LA Xpress, El Clasificado, or in a bar. Bars are probably the closest thing to TJ in talent but they will charge you an arm and a leg. There is where I can say do I go for it or do I just plan a trip to TJ?

Where I feel stupid is when I think about the distance between La Zona and my house. That's where I go: I'm driving around 4 hours round trip for some poon? Is kind of pathetic really. But hey I love the atmosphere and I love the chicas so if I have to drive that I will drive that.

The danger factor is a non factor for me. I will continue to go whether alone or with my buddies. I prefer going alone which is probably contrary to what many others prefer. And no is not because I'm brave is just that I feel comfortable. Plus when I go with my buddies one of them looks like he's about to get executed. Is kind of funny.

I just think that TJ is worth it. I don't find it dangerous enough to keep me away. I think is cheap. Even cheaper than if I got a latina in LA. Let me explain. In LA I can get a latina that can have her place for around $80. And that's if she has her place. In TJ I can choose a latina plus the room will cost around $75. Even less in Pesos. And sg's are even cheaper and if I find a good fit I would definitely be spending less money. I don't factor in gas and food to my trip expenses. I'm not going to cry over $20-30 of gas and around $5-$10 of food. I don't think going will hurt my wallet but will make the chicas a bit richer. Factor in that if I got busted in LA it will cost me way more. Plus I don't have any other vices so my budget for TJ can be very flexible. Best of all they offer what I want, Latinas.

I have been going to Tj on and off for the last 6 years, I have never been bothered by the police, thieves, or anyone. The only people that have ever said a word to me are taxi drivers or guys trying to get me into their club... or kids trying to sell me gum. I also live in San Diego so it is not as much of a journey for me as some others. I have never seen any sort of violence in TJ whatsoever. Not 6 years ago, not 3 weeks ago, I wouldnt worry too much about it! Happy hunting!

There is one thing to be considered on the side of KF post.
Prostitution activity has increased in the US.

All levels of the business have gone visible and out of the closet.
Yes I know that LE will go after them and make them go underground, but now you hear more of prostitution activites in the US than before.
There are more websites openly offering services, more indies offering services, more girls working at the cathouses... etc.

Just look at the Super Bowl.
News articles all over the map talking about pimps struting their stuff and independent girls moving to Dallas for the business, all prior to Big Sunday.
And many organizations doing their thing in a wild way to stop minors from being pimped.
Wild as in getting celebreties to vouch for them, memorablia (which I consider stupid), etc.

My fellow mongers. It is an indicator as is in other countries, that something is going really wrong in America that wasn't happening before.

I hear people say how dangerous it is....however generally when you ask them when they last visited it was so long ago they have no idea how it is in TJ.

I don't know that the providers have lower costs of living. Transportation prices are always going up along with nearly everything else here in TJ. Hard to imagine providers charging less and needing more money to live.

KF makes some accusations which would take some time to thoroughly and thoughtfully analyze and debate. Not having the sufficient time right now to do the discussion justice, please allow me to state briefly that personally, I generally disagree with his assertions and side with AmigoMio. I still find Mexico a better mongering destination than the States.

I think the lull in LE activity has more to do with the demise of Craigslist's service than anything else. When someone or something comes along to fill this vacuum, LE activity will no doubt follow. For me, a solicitation bust would be a life changing event -- and not for the better! I would lose my job immediately, just as things are starting to pick up. And even with all the recent municipal cutbacks, as a peace officer, wouldn't you really rather bust harmless, hapless johns than have to deal with real criminals? I know I would.

As for Mexico's economy, it has held up surprisingly well since the global downturn. Normally, when an economic event such as the recent Great Recession would hit the United States, Mexico's economy would go on life support. That has not happened this time. We could discuss at length the reasons for this. AmigoMio touched on some of the reasons. Suffice to say that although Mexico's economy still is much, much smaller than the United States, they are making real gains. Some of their companies have achieved multi-national status and are competing toe-to-toe with world-class companies from the developed world. AmigoMio's home town of Monterrey is one of the hot-beds for this activity.

Now to address the service and availability of the chicas, I believe it is easy to get great service and horrible service and everything in between in both places. I find the great service in Mexico is much cheaper than the great service in the States. To be truthful, I have not seen a US provider in some time so my empirical information is a bit stale. However, there is little chance that my current routine is going to change anytime soon. I'm sold on the chicas! ،A mi me gustan las mexicanas!

The drug cartel violence makes for great viewer ratings for entertainment television news. Unless you choose not to view the situation realistically, please keep in mind that there are tens of millions of Mexicans who go about their business each day without ever being affected by the drugs wars. If we want the drug wars to stop, we could do so easily. Just legalize it, stupid!

Finally, it must be said that I live in San Diego and a trip to TJ is not a serious undertaking for me. I recently obtained a SENTRI card and now I do not think twice about crossing the border. If I lived in the LA area, I might be more inclined to side with KF's arguments.

my reasons for not going as often have to with the bad economy in the US and the fact that most of the buddies i would go with are now married or have moved away. i dont really like to go by myself.

ive been back since all the violence started and to tell you the truth it felt the same as always. if maybe a tiny bit less crowded.

i agree that the prices have dropped in the US but the easyness and variety of TJ is always attractive as opposed to the US where you eitehr have to pay premiums for an asian massage or drive around with the risk of getting caught by LE

I am not venturing into any analysis of which country is more f**ked up. I think Mexico is the hands down winner there. Some credible analysts are calling the Mexican government a "failed or failing regime". There is debate as to whether the drug cartels or the government is actually winning the vicious bloody battle in the streets. Over 20,000 people have died in the drug wars in the last few years. A not insignificant number of deaths have been in TJ/Rosarito. Massacres in the streets across Mexico are currently common occurrences.

Meanwhile, LA has a 40 year low violent crime rate. Our economy is as bad as ever and unemployment is unsustainably high by local standards. Meanwhile, CA LE agencies have sustained huge budget cuts and many are on the verge of laying off uniformed officers. Silly little vice ops to arrest johns in craigslist or curbside stings are rare. So, things are bad in CA but not like in Mexico.

PD: by the way KF, prices will never go down in Mexico. We do not use the housing bubble as an idicator of how the economy is working in our country.
It's the dollar/peso rate. That's the only indicator in our case.

I used to consider TJ an exotic third world adventure. Nowadays, with the unavoidable backdrop of crime and corruption prevalent in Mexico I find TJ less appealing.

I am harboring a grudge about the fact that the prices in TJ are identical to 5 years ago, despite the fact you now need a passport to visit. One would have expected the already high prices to drop at least 20% due to the huge decrease in US traffic. Meanwhile, the prices in the US have plummeted with the economy. A 30 minute session from a provider on any number of internet sites in LA or OC can be found for about the same price as a 30 minute session at AB or HK- ($60-100). Plus, I find CA to have a wide range of talent, including a lot of beautiful women from all across the ethnic Baskin Robbins rainbow. In TJ it is one flavor only.

Nowadays, I feel more threatened by the hassles, corruption, and violence in Mexico. Things in Mexico are clearly out of control. I have responsibilities and value my safety. I cannot afford to be caught up in possible violence or civil unrest for the sake of pussy. I feel stupid for risking my health and well being each time I travel to TJ for sex.

Meanwhile, in CA almost all local LE vice operations are virtually nonexistent. Due to recent legal changes regarding vehicle seizures and huge LE budget cuts there is little incentive for the operations they ran in the past. A local session avoids the need for a long drive, gas, parking, the need to carry or present a passport, and the hassle of passing a border checkpoint, not to mention the risks of travel within Mexico. Ultimately, the risk of running into some kind of hassle or trouble in TJ is now much more realistic than the threat of encountering any trouble here in CA.


Just wondering if anyone else would like to weigh in. I appreciate if you avoid any flames or personal statements in this thread- not because we need rules but because it just doesn't make sense.
