I think Biden wants to focus on confiscating military-type rifles, since those are the ones that would be most useful in a civil war or revolution. We live in extraordinary times and it's not impossible that some form of despotism will be established in the US. Therefore, for that very reason, citizens should not hand their assault weapons in because they won't be able to regain their freedom without them. We can now see how fortunate Americans are to have the second amendment as a safeguard against tyranny.
