Labels for aromatherapy bottles

Hi

Would appreciate your help. I would like to buy some nice labels to put on my aromatherapy bottles when I have made a blend for someone. Does anyone have any ideas on suppliers or design.

And are you allowed to sell these products to your clients or do you have to have a licences. I have been giving what is left after the massage free to the client but am wondering if I should charge for this and how much.

Would appreciate any help or advice very much.

Hi Debs,

Are you a qualified Aromatherapist? If so, you can (as long as you are insured) sell/give your presciption blends to your clients without having to have them safety assessed. At least this is my understanding of the laws in the UK.

Technically as long as you have completed a client consultation form you can do this. My insurance company allows me to retail these sorts of blends upto the value of £10,000 per year. It is worth calling your insurance company to confirm this just in case.

If you were going to retail to the general public, this is when you will need to have your recipes safety assessed.

As for costs, you could either incorporate the cost of the excess oils into your treatment or charge what you feel is a good cost for you as an extra expense (Bottles, labels etc) on top of the treatment, or take the cost on yourself! You can work out how much each oil costs you buy dividing up the cost of you base oils & essential oils into say 50ml amounts, this should help you with costing.

Labels... I print my own, Avery do manufacture an almost waterproof label which can be used with inkjet printers, so the oil on your hands doesn't wipe off what you've printed. If you are decanting leftover oil into bottles and each blend is different, I'd buy a set of blank labels and a CD writer pen so you can write the contents of the blend on the bottle and any safety precautions.

I am an Aromatherapist and unable to sell things I have made, because I don't have a license, if it was covered on your course then you are able to sell. I can only give my client what may be left over when I have massaged them, my insurance company won't let me sell *stamps feet* lol

for labels I use http://myworld.ebay.co.uk/skarlettnoire1 her prices are reasonable you can have anything printed and the service is great.

I buy labels from her regarding my plants as its cheaper for me to buy labels from there then buy the labels and print them mysel.

I use my Brother labeller as the labels have like a waxy coating so if the oil drips it wipes off - also they are really sticky
