Lavender

Hello all

I suffer from Psoriasis and was told a couple of years ago to stay away from Lavendar.... The reason ~~~ Because Lavendar aids skin regeneration.

This can be proved as they used to use it in WW1 for patients, we still reccomend it's use today for Burns etc, so my question is why do so many people recomend it for Posriasis when the very nature of Psoriasis is that the skin is regenerating and does not know to stop.

How can we use Lavendar to help Psoriasis when in my opinion it surely would make it worse?

Mark, a very good question.

I have had a look on Google to see if anyone has put it any better, but have been racking my brains about this and will not be stumped!!

As I see it, lavender essential oil is very balancing, in that it promotes normality. It helps skin to heal and repair where necessary, but in psoriasis sufferers, it calms the skin, stops irritation and itching, which can encourage the cells to overproduce.

There are many oils that have a balancing effect on different parts of the body, for instance some can be used for high or low blood pressure, etc.

suppose it depends on whether you're talking about using it topically or as an inhalant. in the latter case, it would act to reduce stress and restore mental balance, which is obviously useful in psoriasis. have you read the research on aggravation of this condition (not spelling it again!) by exposure to cigarette smoke?

To Northern Lights ~~ No i have not seen the research re cigarette smoke have you got any referances? and my psoriasis is not worsenned by stress at all, so inhalation would not help me there, although i am aware it will with some sufferers.

To Lesley ~~ It still doesn't give me a straight answer as such, to me surely either it is or it isn't good for you, i just cannot figur eout which.[&:]

Sorry, Mark. Maybe, I didn't make myself clear. Lavender is good for psoriasis as it normalises the skin, stops itching and irritation and generally calms things down.

Incidentally, who told you to avoid lavender? Have you ever tried using it (blended with what?) and what were the results?

I think I would tend to blend it with chamomile roman in some calendula or jojoba oil.

neem oil should also not be discounted - but i think in terms of carriers those are your main 3

I will tell you how I got rid of my Psoriasis. I did a colon cleanse and then a liver/gallbladder flush. I also applied Theraputic Grade Essential Oils to the spots. I had it on the scalp. I used Cedarwood, Rosemary, and Lavender. Today, my scalp is clear.

Hi everyone, thanks for all your replies, at the moment i am using a moisturiser at night to keep the hard skin away and also receiving regular spiritual healing whilst training to be a healer, and this appears to be reducing the number of patches that I have.

The question is still very prevalant for others though as i have found that Psoriasis is healed with many differant things for many people, I just really wanted to know about Lavendar and what you guys thought of it.

I did used to burn some Lavendar at night to aid sleep, and my Psoriasis was raging at the time, then i got told not to use it and the patches calmed down considerably, they did not disappear but they calmed down a great deal and were not as itchy or red etc.
