LE in Brampton

Upon leaving SRM tonight I found LE sitting outside checking license plates. I immediately called Joy who told me they do this about once a month to harras the clients.

I guess the guy didn't like the fact that I was one the phone and probably guessed who I was calling. Flashing lights came on and the next thing I know I'm being asked for ID.

This LE told me that entering into or leaving this establishment was illegal and told me if I ever come around here again I'll be reported to vice.

A second call to Joy confirms this is exactly how they are harrasing customers. The event has been recorded right down to the time and who the LE was. This info will be kept to use in the fight against the bylaws.

I'll go back next week and see if he would like to lay charges of walking through a door.

Yeah, same thing happened to me last night around 9:30.
When I asked how long is was going to take he said you can do it here or residence or work.

I was informed they would be constantly recording license plates for visitors to the establishment that was under investigation.

I question the legality of this. SRM is a licensed premises and, as such, has the right to do business. Having police in marked cars in the parking lot taking down license plate numbers is an obvious intimidation tactic. It serves no other purpose. If they were doing legitimate intelligence gathering, they would be in unmarked vehicles.
