TAMPA (FOX 13) -A day at the spa is a great way to relax, and it often includes a soothing massage.
"It can be great because it increases your circulation, it eliminates toxins from your body, and it increases your blood flow -- all great things for great sex," said psychologist Dr. Dae Sheridan.
She says when couples massage each other it helps express feelings.
"You're giving of yourself, the other person is receiving, and you're able to transfer your energy to one another and that can be really sexy and really bonding and connective," she says.
Dae's advice: ask your partner what kind of massage they like best.
Lots of pressure, deep tissue, lots of oils all seem to be common preferences.
And don't be afraid to speak up.
"You might get a 20-minute shoulder massage but you'd love a foot massage. A lot of times we feel, 'ooo I feel bad, I don't want to hurt their feelings if I redirect them,’but you're never going to be really satisfied emotionally, physically, sexually if we don't ask to get our needs met," Sheridan said.
But even if your partner's skills don't measure up to the professionals, it just might help bring you closer.
