Calgary massage therapist Angel Tinco Zambrano has had an extra nine months added to his prison term for a second sexual assault on a female client.
Provincial court Judge Lloyd Robertson on Friday agreed with Crown prosecutor Andrew Barg that a sentence in excess of the three months proposed by the defence was warranted.
Barg had argued a consecutive term of six to nine months was justified for Tinco Zambrano’s molestation of a client on Oct. 12, 2016.
Defence counsel Elena Ryland proposed a three-month term.
Tinco Zambrano was convicted by Robertson in March of sexually assaulting a woman after he touched her bare buttocks instead of massaging her through a bed sheet and spoke to her in what she felt was a sexually suggestive way.
While massaging her buttocks, Tinco Zambrano whispered in her ear that he “liked white girls.”
In May, he was sentenced to 3 1/2 years in a federal penitentiary for a more serious sexual assault on another female client.
In that incident on Nov. 21, 2016, he asked his client to remove her underwear, which she did, and then fondled her privates after convincing her to get on her back.
In sentencing Tinco Zambrano, Justice Michele Hollins said massage therapists hold a position of trust over their clientele, who are naked in a private room with no avenue of escape.
Jurors rejected testimony from the native Peruvian that the woman initiated the sexual contact and consented to his touching.
As a result of his convictions, Tinco Zambrano could face deportation.
