A massage parlour in a Nottingham suburb could soon be turned into 'much-needed' flats. The business, called Hush Massage Nottingham and located at 571-573 Mansfield Road in Sherwood, could be converted to four one-bed residential units, should plans submitted to Nottingham City Council be given the green light.
The three-storey Victorian building, originally built in the early 1900s, is currently occupied by a barber shop and a clothes shop on its ground floor, which don't appear like they will be affected by the development. The first and second floor are occupied by the massage business.
According to planning documents, one full time and three part time employees work at the massage parlour. Owner of the building, Costas Solomonides, has submitted the plans to the council for the flats, which will be available for social, affordable or intermediate rent.
A need for additional windows and a doorway has been identified in the planning documents, as well as the need for the installation of a steel staircase to provide access to two of the flats. The location of the existing building within the site retains an open rear yard for amenity space for the development.
One of the planning documents reads: "The proposed building will create an additional four one-bedroomed flats which would provide much needed residential accommodation with minimal alterations."
