new fish to introduce into my tank?

I have three fish, one fancy black moor goldfish and two fancy goldfish. i love them to death but they are gross, smelly, dirty fish. i have a tank with a filter and i regularly clean the tank. I have been thinking about purchasing snails, sucker fish, or another type of "bottom feeder" to add to the tank to help keep it clean. i am afraid of buying something that will hurt or kill my fish or compromise their health. i think my fish are happy, is this a good idea? if so, what fish/snails would you recommend?

Don't do this! Bottom feeders don't eat feces, they eat food on the bottom. Then they add their own poop to the tank. Snails and plecos have large poop too. Plecos also like to eat away at slower swimming fish. Your best bet is to get a larger tank and to learn how to properly cycle it. Goldfish only smell when the ammonia levels in your tank are too large. Its more than you filter and your beneficial bacteria can handle on their own. Which is called being overstocked.

You do not mention the size of your tank but goldfish are dirty fish like pleco's. They need regular, large water changes and the substrate cleaned often. I don't think adding more fish will solve your problem. I think maintence has been your problem and you just need to do more cleaning. Sucker fish or snails will not remove waste. That needs to be done by you.
