non-massage aromatherapy courses?

Hi
Can anyone help me in find a qualificational course in diagnostic aromatherapy- i.e. everything but the hands-on massage? I am qualified A+P and I.H.M. (both ITEC) and would like to mix my own oils but cannot take on any of the courses I have researched so far due to having mobility issues and unable to perform full body massage.

I hope you get some answers to this question - I'm sure there must be something in the UK. I know that when I lived in Belgium, there were 'aromatology' courses available at some of the larger training colleges - there is also some available in Canada and the USA, where students are taught about the chemical components of the EO's - although I think in the States it was part of a science degree course. There are so many restrictions on the production of materials nowadays! I can remember my great aunt making her own chamomile cream using the flowers from her garden. Not sure she could get away with it now without some form of government monitoring!!!

I'll be honest with you and say I don't know of any. What might be useful is to approach examining bodies and maybe a couple of larger training schools directly, or even hospices which offer this type of training and they may be able to advise you. Please let us know if you have any success as I know a number of people who are also interested and to date haven't founda suitable course.

You may find there is something that can be done.

I've just been looking at kavala website [link=http://www.kavala.com]www.kavala.com[/link] they do a course called a-z of essential oils basically looks like everything you ever wanted to know about essential oils without A and P or massage. Hope this is of some help, it is a distance learning course which I know has mixed opinions.

Many thanks for the info, I will do some checking up and post results. At present, the IFPA have advertised that they run aromatology courses and they also pop up during search-engine checks on this subject but on contacting them have been told that they do not. I have also been recommended the Penny Price Aromatherapy School and will post results when I have been in touch with them.

Aromatherapy is taught without massage in the US - because of the complex massage therapist regulations there. You can actually do a correspondence course on this with the colleges in the US.

Martin Watt also has a very good course, where the massage elements are optional - obviously the certification will be different.
