Zeel CEO Samer Hamadeh thinks those factors make Seattle the perfect place to expand his on-demand massage business, which already operates in 15 other U.S. regions.

Hamadeh founded Zeel in New York in 2012, allowing customers in the area to request massages seven days a week, via a smartphone app. Zeel officially launches in Seattle today, offering a variety of types of massages from its network of licensed therapists.

“We have the most mobile massage therapists, with over 5,100 in our network nationwide, and we’re constantly adding more each week,” said Hamden. “That’s nearly double the number of any other on-demand massage company, not to mention more traditional massage companies. This number is vital. Without this many therapists, a company can’t meet customer demand.”

In addition to one-off massages, Zeel offers a monthly membership option that clients can use or transfer to friends and family. Members of Zeel’s 40-person team vet massage therapists and verify the identities of customers to protect both parties involved in the transaction.

“We’re the only in-home on-demand company that goes as far with safety besides Airbnb,” said Hamadeh. “Customers can rest assured that all Zeel Massage Therapists are very thoroughly vetted and background-checked before joining our network.”

A 60-minute Swedish massage costs $89 plus an included 18% gratuity, for a total of more than $105. Massages are available from 8 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Zeel has raised $15.5 million in funding to date, including a Series A round that closed last month. The funds have helped fuel the company’s expansion into new markets, including Seattle.
