Operation Wound - Oil application

Hi,
I have a friend who is having a hernia operation and I've offered to make up a blend for him to help the wound heal and also to help with the scar after its healed. I'm going to make up a blend with Ti Tree for him to use prior to the op. to fortify the body, but need some advice for how to administer the blend on the actual wound. I know what blend I am going to give him but common sense dictates that he can only apply the blend around; but not directly onto the would. Also, the final blend; which will help to reduce the scar - because the scar will now be healing, I presume will be okay to apply directly onto the area?
If anyone has had direct experience with this, I'd really appreciate your input.

Hi Claire

Although I have not directly had experience in treating wounds/scars, I am told that Rosehip Oil as a carrier oil is extremely beneficial in minimising scars when applied over the course of a number of weeks. I am sure there will be someone here that can expand on this. Good luck.

I always apply lavender oil to any burn wounds and they heal a lot faster than if left. I have also heard that lavender is great for any type of wound.

Yes I have been considering Rosehip & Neem Carrier oils with my chosen blend of Ti Tree, Eucalyptus and Lavendar.
I had spectacular results with another relative using the above EO's after an operation on the jaw bone (maxilla). His face swelled enormously and after applying the blend to the skin externally, the swelling reduced back to normal within a day. The dentist had told him to expect to be badly swollen for a few days. Funnily enough I had to beg the relative to try the blend as he wasn't a believer, but is now well and truly converted - he even told the dentist about it as it had had such a positive effect!

You could be looking at an anti bacterial oil to apply to your blend,steer clear of the agresive ones like thyme and oregano,lemon is well renowned .....look up helychrysum too,fabulos at would healing.

Yes I've heard wonderful things about lavender. However, the hospital will recommend keeping the wound clean and dry.

using oils on wounds is safe.they soak into the skin and do not moisten it .

Hi, I find that making a splash for a wound is better and more comfortable for both myself and client/kids/animals
My base for a splash is Witch Hazel and distilled water with maybe a few mls of brandy added. Add essential oils then shake vigorously before applying
