Whatever happened at the Green Massage Spa in Nazareth, Pa., it sure didn’t relax 27-year-old Frantz Bernard. Whatever happened at the Green Massage Spa in Nazareth, Pa., it sure didn't relax 27-year-old Frantz Bernard. Instead, the Monroe County man admitted in court Monday that he attacked his topless Asian massage therapist last spring, according to our sister website, LehighValleyLive.com, which writes:
Bernard, of Tobyhanna, admitted he grabbed the masseuse around the neck and hit her face. She ran topless from the spa and shouted for help, police said.
He was initially charged with aggravated assault and indecent assault, but those charges were later dropped. Assistant District Attorney Tatum Wilson said police misunderstood the severity of the attack in part because the victim is Asian.
Bernard pleaded guilty to simple assault, unlawful restraint and harassment.
On Monday, Northampton County Judge Paula Roscioli sentenced Bernard to two months to two years in prison. He will serve three years of probation after he parole period lapses.
So what caused Bernard to fly off the handle?
In court, he repeatedly hedged as the judge asked him to explain why he attacked the masseuse, the website writes:
"Did you expect to get something more than a massage?" she asked. "Remember, you're under oath."
"Yeah. I did," croaked a clearly nervous Bernard.
However, defense attorney Robert Eyer said there's no evidence Bernard committed any sex offense.
