patch test

I have been taught to carry out a patch test by adding 2 neat drops of essential oil to the back of the wrist and cover with a plaster and leave for at least 2 hours. Someone suggested that it be caried out differently, can anyone give me some advice!!!!! i am now confussed

Hi Colleen,This is what it says in my course notes about patch tests ....If you are uncertain about an oil, do a patch test of a 2-percentdilution in the crook of the arm or on the back of the neck at the hairline. Twelve hours is ample time for a reaction to occur. If redness or itching develops, you may want to try a less potent dilution, or choose an appropriate substitute for the irritating oil. The main skin irritants are cinnamon, pimento, clove, savory, dwarf pine, thyme (except linalol), oregano and wintergreen.Hope this helps.
