Plai essential oil

I've just been introduced to Plai essential oil and think it's fantastic. I really love the smell. I had never heard of it before until I went on a course yesterday and I got to use it. Does anyone else use this oil on themselves or on clients? What do you use it for and how beneficial have you found it? Do your clients like it? Would be interested to hear what you think about the oil.

I love Plai. Found it on the Essentially Oils newsletter a few years ago alongside comparison info for Diclofenac. Have had some very good results and I'm generally very pleased with it. I prefer the smell to Ginger and it is more acceptable than Rosemary I find.

Give it a whirl. It has a very good safety profile and according to the literature can be used safely in high concentrations on small spots. The blend I make for my dad's neck is about 10% Plai and he gets good relief without smelling "too weird"

Earthbabe, I just read the article you mentioned about Plai and have been researching it on google over last few days. It's a pretty amazing oil. It seems to be very good for inflammation and reducing pain. I've just ordered one so I can't wait for it to arrive and start using it on myself and clients. I also ordered Myrtle and Eucalyptus Radiata.

Plai (pronounced ply) has long been Thailand's secret massage ingredient. I was introduced to it around 20 years ago by OH's Aunt who used to go around to people's houses and do original thai massage using plai. It was especially good for women who had recently had babies and was massaged into the abdomen to help reduce stretch marks and get back to a flatter stomach quickly.

I bring back loads of when I visit Thailand and I use it in my back neck and shoulder massage always.

I used Plai (Zingiber cassumunar) in massage and herbal preperations while in Thailand. It is a form of ginger, and is considered a cure all. One of my teachers considers turmeric as a substitute.

This is what it says in one of my manuals:

Plai

Leaf - remedy for chills, sores and pains.

Flower - Internal bruises. Helps disperse blood clots, removes damaged blood during menstral cycle.

Truck - Remedy for constipation

Root - Nose bleeds and blood in vomit; numbness; stomach ache; blood dysentery; diarrhea; inflammation of the intestines; leucorrhoea; vomiting; toothache; fever in children; sprains; skin problems and boils; Smear directly on wound for antiseptic, sucks out pus and closes wound.

I think the essential oils comes from the root doesn't it? Mine arrived yesterday and can't wait to try it out - it smells lovely. That's good to hear that it's good for menstrual cramps.
