Plantar Warts?

Hi

Has anyone come across Plantar Warts before on a clients feet? I have someone enquiring after treatment and wants to know if this will be a problem.

Does anyone know if these are contagious, should i wear gloves or not treat them at all?

I don't do refelx...but did manicure/pedicure....warts/veruccas are highly contagious....I personally would not treat someone with it....the virus hangs around for longer than its host....

I have always been happy to treat clients with verrucae providing they ensure they are covered with a waterproof plaster or the gel that creates a barrier over them.

Although verrucae and warts are contagious, the circumstances have to be right for them to take hold (i.e. it's more about the person's immune system). Otherwise, someone with a verruca on one foot would be passing it to the other foot all the time, but it rarely happens.

lol...it happened to me....i got a verruca for the first time as an adult, never knew anyone who had them, I must have gotten it at college....I was disgusted lol
then it spread onto my other foot.
I personally feel it's not worth the risk, but it's a personal choice really.

Hmmm, do you think it would be ok if the area was covered with a plaster? and/or i wore thin surgical gloves?

As long as the plaster is waterproof and won't come off during the treatment.

I have a client who comes to me with a sticky film that her chiropodist applies. It is completely sealed and there is no risk.
