reflexology & labour for case study?

Hi,

I like some advice one of my friend is 38 weeks pregnant and would like me use her, to go into labour quickly, i have explained to her that i've only just started to do my case study, and i'm not expert in this field just yet, so she said is there any books or video where she could watch with her husband, where maybe he could practice on her to stimulate the birth quickly. can anybody help me please.

Personally & these are just my thoughts. I would leave nature well enough alone & let baby arrive when s/he is ready. Unless they get to comfey in their little hidy hole & don't want to come out at all.I can't advise on methods As i don't do reflexology. Just putting my two penneth worth in here

thanks for the advice i did check the treads where vidavooz started the discussions she's fully qualifed, I was hoping to get advice from qualifed practioners how they would go about it & what they thought of it. Anyhow I've since checked it with my tutor and she was totaly against it, she said even if i told her what to do it doesnt make any sense to her so she might still get it wrong, she said I'm not fully quailfied if there was complications to the labour, birth and maybe to the baby, after I have given her the treatment I might get sued & even charged with criminal damages for practising without a qualification, she said you have to cover yourself, try to go for less complicated case studies. so i think she's right. I'll give her a treatment after she had the baby. I think as student I have to take one step at the time. thanks for taking time to answer to my question, but i like to know how did it go for you with your friend.

Hi farideh,

I assumed cos shes your friend that it would not be a problem and i thought as a student you would have student insurance as we had to have it for the course i was on. We were taught though that you could give your clients tips and pointers for areas they could work at home on themselves.
My friend is hoping for a home birth and I have shown her husband some relaxation techniques that he can use on her. Even if he is not qualified he could not cause any damage to her at worst it would not work.

Reflexology is not going to make a baby come if it is not ready I do not believe that anything will but women get so fed up at the end that they need to feel they are actively doing something to help things along. I know I did.

I'm sure you are right. But if anything did go wrong with the birth, even if it was unconnected with the reflexology, this could cause all sorts of problems if the client and her family believed it was caused by the treatments. Not worth putting your neck on the line unless you know one hundred per cent what you're doing.

Hi caroline,

I saw my friend yesterday and explained why i cant give her treatment but showed her how to get her husband to relax her during her labour, i have student insurance, but as aromababe said if anything goes wrong, which might not even remotly related to the treatment , I have feelin maybe not my friend but her husband and her family, might not take too kindly.Have my tutor scared me to not take slightly compliated cases at this early stage? yes she's done good job, but i'm sure her reason are take a step at the time when i'm more confiedent and qualified there would other time where i can practice.
