SHows you just how stupid some people are, what does she think they did by putting the lane IN in the first place? They certainly didn't ADD a fucking road for a car......
I'd also like to meet the people who did the study on "it takes a few minutes" longer for cars. I'd add that 2 minutes per car x 500 cars = 1000 minutes or 16.6 hrs. Now how does adding 16.6 hrs of traffic help the city be "green"? Now you could actually multiply that number by the increase in idling time which is 100% inefficient.
(that 500 is a rough estimate, figure a car drives in the lane every 2 seconds, or 30 a minute, or 180 an hour, x 4 hrs for rush hour per day)
I'm all for bike lanes, but not at the cost of vehicular traffic. Especially since they are only going to be used for a few months per year.....
