I remember about8 years ago there was a rose oil available in Australia from the UK using a high tech method to extract the essential oil, it made the oil about twice as expensive as the good quality effleurageproduce rose oil and about 3 times as expensive as the chemical absolute pricing. I can't even remember the name of the procedure now (something starting with p??? phytoextract???It was sort of along the same lines as CO2 extraction but a different gas). The oil smelt like a rose garden, nothing like the usual rose essential oil. It was too expensive for me to justify using it, and it dropped off the list of available oils within a couple of years - either most people baulked at the price or production was stopped. The distributor I would go to had to take the tester off the shelf because so many therapists were just coming and practically inhaling the whole tester in one go
