Hi have posted my information on Rosemary.
ROSEMARY
Latin Name: Rosmarinus officinalis [Family: Labiatae / Lamiaceae]
Habitat: A variable evergreen shrub growing to 7ft (2m) with needle-like leaves (darker on top, lighter underneath) and pale to dark blue (rarely pink or white) flowers in spring. Both flowers and leaves are strongly aromatic. It is native to the Mediterranean region and grows in well-drained soils and is cultivated in many Mediterranean countries.
Extraction: The essential oil is extracted by steam distillation from the flowering tops and produces a colourless or pale yellow liquid with a mint-like odour. Flowering tops produce a superior quality over other production methods which use the whole plant. The main oil producers are France, Spain and Tunisia.
History: The 17th-century herbalist Gerard gives us an indication of how rosemary was regarded in early medicine. Gerard's reference to rosemary being used to quicken the memory comes from an ancient belief that rosemary can sharpen the memory and inspire fond remembrance.
