HI I am thinking of doing the SNHS Aromatherapy Course and looking on this forum have found conflicting things. Anyone done this course and found it good please? I need more evidence that this is the right course, please. Any advise welcome.

HI ya, I am currently doing this course and I personally find it ok. Sometimes its not well explained but they are good at communicating if you let them know what your issues are theya re very very helpful altho this has only happened once to me so far

I did their Crystal therapy course years ago and it was fine as a basic introduction to crystals for my personal use, but I went on to do other accredited courses with qualifications that my insurance company recognised.

The main question to consider is (as it is with any course) -"is this course accredited and will my insurance company accept it", presuming of course that you want to be insured to treat paying clients.

If you are doing the course for personal interest or as a precursor to doing an accredited qualification then it's probably an okay place to start.

Hi -thanks for your replies and yes I do need it for paying customers and insurance. I have now looked at another training course that does home studies but you need to attend for 1.5 days and all the centres are a long way from me in North Norfolk. No-one seems to have any courses in my county that I could attend - have to keep looking. Anyway thanks again.

Did a quick browse and found the following - don't know if you've already investigated these:

Open Study College offer a level 4 correspondence course (NVQ level 4 equivalent)
ITEC's website will allow you to search for accredited courses in your area
Aromamedical's website seems to offer a comprehensive correspondence course, but I don't know how kosher it is.

can I just add that insurance is available for this course as I also needed it and checked into that before I paid for the course

I completed the Aromatherapy course with the SNHS last year. It took me 10 months to do and I found the coursework comprehensive. I opted for Self Study but found the tutors really helpful when needed. I am also qualified in Level 3 Swedish Massage and other therapies so felt that I did not need to do a college course as had the basics of massage already. It was a lot of hardwork and the course is what you make of it. I was with the FHT at the time and they do insure this diploma course but only as an Associate and they are not recognise through the FHT or an accredited course through them. At the end of the course they send you all the information about insuring yourself through their recognised insurers. So for me that is not a problem. But the choice is yours. I personally would highly recommend the SNHS.
