Hi there.
i am at a crossroads and not sure how to proceed. I am breaking back into the field after a few months off for maternity leave.
I was working at an upscale day spa close to home part time. the pay was great a 50/50 split - so around $35-45 per session plus tips.
Unfortunately they are really not busy and only have on call work for me now.
I would like to work more and get some good steady work. On one hand I would love private clients b/c i have the freedom to treat them with my own techniques and not just "swedish" or "deep tissue" like a spa. On the other hand I can't start my own place right now and can't legally work at home. Should I do an outcall only business? It seems like a lot of work and would need some time to build up.
I am applying to big resorts in the area and I spoke to a wellness clinic. the job is 30 minutes away and not well paying. shift is 10-3 or 4 and therapists work on average only 3 hours out of that time. Pay is $24-27 an hour and I'm guessing not good tips based on the conversation.
I have this summer wide open in terms of child care to explore what i want to do. should i keep my hand in e/t? on call everywhere that seems good and start my own outcall business?
work at the wellness clinic 3 days a week and only come home with $300?
I'm in north miami if that helps.
need some direction here. I really don't have the capital to start my own place.
thanks
Chani
