Starting VTCT Aromatherapy course in September

and I cant wait!!!!!! Really excited and am looking forward to moving to the next step of the ladder.

Did everyone else enjoy learning aromatherapy??

Yeah I did, completed mine a few years ago, but theres one thing I've been told about next years course is that blending is NOT going to be part of the course anymore. To me thats the most interesting part of it!

ive just done swedish massage and hoping to start this course in sep too !!!

still waiting to here, thought that was what the course was about, oh well.

I enjoyed the theory of aromatherapy very much and of course doing the treatments.. I wasn't majorly impressed with the school where I trained (understatement) but I loved the material and read the books I bought from cover to cover.. bit concerned about the no blending rule - they can't be implying people only buy ready blended goods in surely!

I'm starting VTCT aromatherapy in September too! Actually I'm doing massage and aromatherapy - I think the college does the first 15 weeks or so on massage, and the second 15 weeks on aromatherapy. It runs one whole day a week. So I may not be starting the aroma bit until after xmas, not sure.

Haven't heard anything about blending not being included. I think our local college teaches it the way they want, and just make sure they cover all VTCT's requirements too. The people who have done it this year have certainly done blending.

Hi guys

I just thought i would let you know what i know. This year i have taken City & Guilds Level 3 certificate in Aromatherapy, and no blending is included, you have to use pre-blended oils. The teacher has talked a bit about it, but once qualified we will be an aromatherapist but using already blended oils. This also applies for vtct level 3 aromatherapy too, it has only just come in this year, so i know one college not so far from me has just got away this year with including blending.

Whats happening now is that to do blending you have to do the diploma in aromatherapy which i will be doing in sept, although i am worried if people have blended and i havent! (i do blend at home though and i have spoken to my teacher about my blends and she says they are good, so i should be ok!)

We were all very disapointed on my course, as we felt that was what aromatherapy was about - the blending!

Anyway i have still enjoyed the course and i personally wouldnt let it put you off. Just double check with the college that you are going to, and see what they have to say.

I think I would be disappointed too, if blending wasn't included. I guess it's all about raising standards which is a good thing.

I've been in contact recently with someone who blends oils for colleges and wasn't really sure why - this explains it all.

Kathy, im still waiting for my results in the swedish massage so not sure if I can massage clients yet, but im practising on the guys at home (and they are so NOT complaining)

i got my letter saying i passed a week after i finished my course, thought it was very quick though !!!
just waiting for my certificate now.
now getting things together to start work like bisiness cards and so and waiting to here if got on aromatharpy in sep..... good luck
