I am a relative newcomer to the world of aromatherapy - I am just about to sit my clinical aroma exams in 4 weeks!!! Scary!!
Obviously I have been learning all about different oils and their therapeutic effects etc. but something began troubling me last night....I was flicking through Valerie Worwood...which I use for relaxation so that I feel like I am still studying even when I am not!!!
Valerie Worwood talks a lot about synergistic blends. I understand the principles behind this but I wanted to ask the experienced aromatherapists amongst you, ....'How do you make up synergistic blends?' - i.e. without these receipes!!
What I mean is, do you just get to know over time and with lots of practice, what will work well and in what proportions? At the moment my blending is very much based on the theory that I choose oils for their therapeutic properties and incoprorate the drops as I wish - either to make it smell nice or to ensure that there is not too much of a potential irritant in a blend etc.
I hope you can all make sense of this post!!
LOL xx
