Hi there everyone,
I was just looking at a different thread and notice a reply that listed how a therapist ran a aroma taster session. I was wondering if there was already some where on the site that lists tips on how to run taster sessions in hospitals or for volunteer groups etc. I am qualified in massage, Reflex, metamorphic tech, indian head and other holistic therapies. I recently finished my aroma training so i am awaiting the exam results before offering these sessions. I was wondering if the concepts for offering sessions to the public are similar for each type of therapy. It it would be nice if we could all contribute to a link that compiled ideas on this subject.
RELAXATION SESSIONS (1HR 30 MIN LONG)
I already run relaxation technique sessions for Homestart for their "Mums in mind group" This is a group of women with post natal depression. I go through what depression is, what stress is and the differences between these and post-natal depression. I then cover concepts of self awareness and postive thinking. Once the theory is done we move on to a practical session on breathing/ visualization/ relaxation through music and massage for hands feet and seated massage.
I take aroma oils to put on tissues over the radiators, these are usually lavender or sweet orange, bergamot or petitgrain. I take music, laminated cards that explain massage techniques/ oils to take home and practice with, business cards and leaflets. I use a flip chart to draw lots of charts and diagrams.
I try and keep a balance between learning through theory and practice, interaction and individual contributions.
If anyone has any other suggestions or tips i would be really pleased to hear from you so i can enhance my sessions and provide a better service to the individuals.
Warm regards, and heres hoping i have started a could thread
Helen
