TDLR shuts down Denton massage spa - KAUZ

DENTON, Texas (KAUZ) - The Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation issued an order to stop operations at a Denton spa, the tenth such order since a Sep. 1, 2023, law went into effect authorizing the agency to shut down any massage establishment TDLR suspects of human trafficking.

Tao Spa in Denton is now prohibited from operating for at least six months as the organization did not have the required TDLR massage establishment license.

TDLR said inspectors found that neither employee had a massage license, both were dressed provocatively, there was an ATM on site and online ads advertised sexual services at the establishment.

Anyone who suspects human trafficking is occurring can contact the National Hotline for Human Trafficking at 1-888-373-7888 or text HELP or INFO to BeFree (233733). If the situation is an emergency or you believe someone is in immediate danger, call 911 and alert the authorities.
