The Bollywood room at SRM

Although I'm not a Hindu, I think SRM management should be aware that a lot of the imagery there could easily offend some. It'd be similar to having a portrait of Jesus or the Star of David hanging.

Funny, I was in that room last time at SRM and I was wondering the same thing. If it is Shiva, who is also Lord of Destruction(I think, at least he dances the dance of destruction), I wouldn't want to be offending him.

It's also my understanding that any sculpture isn't "alive" until it's actively worshipped and given offerings. (rice, lentils etc.)

I certainly can't speak for any practicing Hindus, but hopefully somebody out there can fill in the blanks as it were.

In a way I'm surprised this has been mentioned NOW, because the Bollywood room has been opened for over 18 months.

So far no Hindu hobbyist has complained so i think it is not something which has bothered them or had hurt their feelings.
I don't see any thing religious there but then again i am neither Hindu nor claim to know Hinduism.

Anyone Hindu out there that could perhaps explain if it offends and why? I would imagine that SRM certainly didn't ever think of offending anybody. I love all of there rooms although I have no idea what they are called. My favourite I think is called the log cabin. Very warm and inviting.

well actually, ganesh is one of the Hindu GODS...i hav seen ppl blindly use hindu gods as depictions of sexuality which is not quite right, i blame ignorance for this, not ppl...u may think that indians did kamasutra & what not but those pictures in kamasutra are not gods, just common ppl in sexual activities.
if still u believe it's right, we cud even use our very own jesus holding a "get a rubba dub dub" sign at massage parlors, doncha think?
