Tipping Receptionists

Sorry if this is a silly question, but I'm a bit new to this.

Is it customary to tip the receptionist either when she shows you to the room, or after you leave?

Why the hell would we? They get tips from the MPAs for referring them to clients.

This has been known to happen and they earned every tip I gave them.

Besides the obvious, there are other benefits of being on very good terms with receptionists. They can perform magic with the schedule when they want to. MPAs will often be willing to come in early or stay ate to suit a client's schedule, but it helps if the receptionist is willing to talk to the MPA in question on your behalf.
The receptionist often knows a lot of what's cooking at the spa, as well as who does what, and more interesting tid bits.
By the way, being on friendly terms with receptionists in all walks of life can open doors for you that would otherwise remain closed.

I agree with your points about the receptionists. The receptionists at Pure/Perla are attractive and fun to talk to when I am waiting for a room.
After they get to know you they can recommend girls which really helps with the new ones. Upgrade in rooms has happened for me as well.

Only time I have tipped a receptionist is to get an early appt with a doctor at a specialist office for medical care. I give them $100 and ask them to fit me in ASAP. Usually get in with 1 hour or in the next 2 days. Much better than waiting 3 - 4 months as the other patients do. Doesn't work all the time, but when it does, it is a life saver.

And don't hate me for doing it. Americans who come across the border can see a specialist in Ontario that same day. So, it isn't fair that us Ontarians have to wait months while visitors get faster treatment because they are allowed to pay and we aren't. Bet you guys didn't know that.
