Training Aromatherapist Diploma

[Hi :)]

Hi I'm new to the forum. I am training for an aromatherapist diploma with ElearnUK, I'm still doing the anatomy and physiology at the moment and haven't got to the oils yet. I'm really enjoying the course and getting good grades.

What I wanted to ask was apart from the anatomy and physiology, using essential oils and customer care, what else do I have to learn to be a mobile aromatherapist?

I've booked myself into a college course on Indian head massage and Shiatsu head, neck and shoulders massage this year but should I take a full college course on massage before I start practising?

Another question is what will I need to get me started and what oils should I get for a good starter pack. I already have a massage bench and I know that I will need towels but how many? and is there anything else I will need? I already work from home on the computer for a publishing company so have my own office at home which I intend to be my therapy room as well.

I would appreciate any advice you can give me.

I have just qualified from my Aromatherapy Diploma. I sent you a post about where to get a good practitioner oil kit from.

Also look at the courses in Natural Health Sciences college, they do excellent distance learning courses. You may find one about business marketing and opening up your own practice. The self study option is good and saves you quite a bit of money. I am doing Reflexology with them at the moment.

These courses are excellent, I did my IFM with Claire .

For a massage table go to e b ay, I got a bran new one (travel one) for £80. I would get a travel one that folds up in a bag, so your options are open to mobile work.

You shouldnt need a full course on massage before starting, you are practcing with clients on going, gatweway and natural health scinces do workshops that can help with assessment of practicle skills.

Scroll down to the Student Practioner kit, it is £129, regsiter as a memeber with details of course and you get a 20% discount on all purchaes. I have this kit and it is excellent.

Towels you will need a budle of large bath seets, a colour to match your massage couch, e bay is a good place for cheap salon quality towels.

Oh and on e bay I found appointments card etc, or you can make your own on publisher.

Dont forget you need a website, my partner is a software enginner so he is doing mine, but there are some good templates out there, for domain names try 123, they are very good. Also they have content management systems so you choose a template and can edit it without technical skills and you get a free trial for 24hrs to try it out.
